Dr.Gita Mohan

Born in 1975 in Chennai, Dr Gita Mohan is a Language Consultant. An art appreciation workshop in

1996 at the Alliance Française de Goa introduced her to Western Art, and the Renaissance,

Impressionist and post-Impressionist periods remain her eternal favourites. Weekends at the

National Gallery (London) during her PhD quenched her thirst for art!

In mid-2022, the academic researcher and editor picked up her brushes again. Her first series was on

sunrises and sunsets and their play on water surfaces. Using acrylics on canvas, Dr Mohan

reimagined social media photos and painted them as vivid Impressionist nature scapes. Her recent

engagement with the UNSDGs and her firm belief in the power of the Sun led to her second series –

a juxtaposition of the scientific, natural and creative. Her research area of North Africa, especially

Morocco, is rising global leader in solar energy.

Hitherto an untrained, self-taught artist who has exhibited in India, she has recently started

attending formal Drawing classes.
